Brazil central bank cuts interest rate 0.25 points, to 14%

BRASMLIA, Oct 19 (APP/AFP): Brazil’s central bank cut its key interest rate for the first time in more than three years Wednesday, lowering it 0.25 points to 14 percent as a new center-right government’s reforms kick in. The bank cited lower inflation as evidence “compatible with a recent stabilization of the Brazilian economy and the possible gradual recovery of economic activity” after a long recession.
