Hong Kong stocks end morning higher, Shanghai slips

HONG KONG, (APP/AFP): Hong Kong stocks rallied in the morning
session Monday after last week’s sell-off, while Shanghai retreated on its first day back after the Lunar New Year following another round of weak Chinese trade data.
The Hang Seng Index added 2.73 percent, or 500.01 points, to
18,819.59 by the break.
But in Shanghai the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index slid 1.57
percent, or 43.46 points, to 2,720.03, while the Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China’s second exchange, lost 1.25 percent, or 21.80 points, to 1,728.90.
