Indian professor taken into custody over sedition charges

NEW DELHI:(APP): Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs) took into custody a former professor of Delhi University over sedition charges on Monday night.
According to Indian media, S.A.R Geelani was nabbed over organizing an event at Delhi Press Club on the death anniversary of Kashmiri leader Afzal Guru.
Pro-Pakistani and anti-Indian slogans were also chanted during the program.
On the other hand, the situation at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) remained tense following the arrest of its students’ union president Kanhaiyya Kumar, who allegedly chanted anti-Indian slogans during the event.
Protests are also being staged over Kumar’s arrest.
