APC demands census without any delay

KARACHI, Feb 21 (APP): The All Parties Conference (APC) held
here on Sunday under the auspices of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP),
Sindh demanded holding of census in the country without any delay.
The demand to this effect was made in a resolution adopted
at the APC.
Secretary Information of PPP Sindh Waqar Medhi, in a statement,
said the participants of the moot were of the view that there should
be at least one month for the head count and 10 days for house count.
It also called for equal representation of all the provinces in
the Governing Council of Federal Statistics Division and exercise be
conducted by the regular government employees. Among the 20 high
officials of National Database Registration Authority (NADRA),
every province be given equal representation.
The census exercise be conducted through the civilian employees
of provincial governments and the law enforcement agencies be
deployed for security and surveillance.
The Council of Common Interests (CCI) should determine a
transparent and credible policy and procedure in consultation with
the federal and provincial governments.
Arrangements should be made for sending back the illegal
immigrants. Fake national identity cards should be cancelled.
There should be strict monitoring of the census from beginning
to the end.
The APC was attended by the representatives of PPP, Muttahida
Qaumi Movement, Pakistan Muslim League-Functional, Pakistan Muslim
League-Nawaz, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazl, Qaumi Awami Tehreek,
Sindh Tarraqi Pasand Party, Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaf, Jamat-i-Islami,
Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid, JUP, Majlis Wahdat-i-Muslameen, Pakistan
Sunni Tehrik, Pakistan Awami Tehreek, JASQM, Shai Ulema Council,
PDP, JUP-Noorani, PML-Qayyum, Awami Jamhoori Party, Nizam Mustafa
Party, Muttahida Ulema Forum as well as representatives of civil society.
