Five gangs of oil thieves, operating in Karachi port area: report

KARACHI: (APP): Security agencies have reported large-scale theft from oil pipelines in Keamari area adjacent to the port, .
According to sources, intelligence agencies have compiled a report over the oil theft from pipelines in Karachi’s port area.
Five gangs of criminals have been involved in the largescale theft, the report said. The gangs in connivance with concerned companies’ staff fill their tankers with the stolen oil, the report said.
According to the report, the oil worth millions of rupees regularly being stolen and sold in the market.
The illegal business has been continued for long time, the report added.
In September 2013 the federal cabinet empowered Rangers to lead a targeted operation with the support of police and other agencies against criminals involved in targeted killings, kidnappings for ransom, extortion, terrorism and other crimes in Pakistan’s largest city of Karachi.
