Regime has failed to provide compensation to victims: Nazki
ISLAMABAD, (MILLAT ONLINE):Human Rights Commission, in Indian occupied Kashmir, receives six to seven cases of human rights violations every day, its chairperson, Justice (Retd) Bilal Nazki, said adding that the administration has failed to provide compensation to the victims.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Nazki was speaking at an event organized by the Commission on the occasion of the International Human Rights Day in Srinagar. He said the Commission received 7,929 complaints this year.
Bilal Nazki Nazki called for support from all the stakeholders including media, police and the civil administration so that the human rights issues could be resolved with accountability.
“As the chairperson of the commission, I recommend the compensation, but in most of the cases the state has failed to provide that,” he said. Speaking about the increasing number of cases being registered at the Commission, Nazki said it means that the people are getting more aware about the commission.
Nazki said the aim of holding such programmes is to bring all the stakeholders together and sensitize them about the human rights and ensure protection of these rights, which, he said, forms the base of justice system in a democratic setup.
