Sopore man behind bars despite court revoked his detention

ISLAMABAD, (MILLAT ONLINE):A resident of Jamia Qadeem Sopore, Ghulam Nabi Gojree, 50, has been languishing in Kot Bhalwal Jail in Jammu even as the high court has revoked his detention under draconian law, Public Safety Act (PSA), twice.
The court also granted him bail a couple of times in all the fake cases registered against him by the Sopore police, the Kshmir Media Service Friday reported.
Haleema Bano, wife of Ghulam Nabi Gojree, has been fighting the case for the last one year on meager resources. However, as soon as she receives the quash orders for his release, the Sopore police already have another PSA dossier ready with the same charges against her husband.
Haleema Bano in a media interview in Srinagar said after the extrajudicial killing of popular youth leader, Burhan Wani, by Indian troops in July 2016, the entire population of Kashmir came out on the streets in protest and so did her husband.
“What was wrong in that? Burhan was our hero, a martyr, and if protests have now stopped and the situation is favourable in Kashmir, why do they continue to keep my husband in jail on fake and fabricated charges? We have suffered a lot for the last one year, how much more do the police want us to suffer? This seriously is an extreme level of cruelty,” she added.
Haleema Bano said when Valley-wide protests broke out against the killing of Burhan Wani last year, Indian forces started raiding her house to arrest her husband.
“Every time they came to our house, my husband was not at home. But by the end of October last year, he was one day busy at home with his labour work, when the forces’ personnel came there and arrested him. They kept him in Tarzoo police station of Sopore for four days before shifting him to Kot Bhalwal Jail in Jammu after booking him under PSA. Since then he is in the jail,” she added.
