ISLAMABAD, (MILLAT+APP): The Chairman of Hurriyet Forum,
Mirwaiz Umar Farooq in occupied Kashmir, while denouncing the
civilian killings by Indian firing in Azad Kashmir has said that
the human will cannot be suppressed by military might and oppression.
According to Kashmir Media Service (KMS), Mirwaiz Umar Farooq in a
statement issued in Srinagar termed the killing of 11 civilians and injuries to half-a-dozen persons travelling in a passenger bus in Neelam valley and attack on a rescue ambulance of the Pakistan Army as barbaric.
He expressed his sympathy with the bereaved families and
prayed for the early recovery of the injured.
“The lingering Kashmir dispute is the result of India’s
obduracy and stubbornness which fails to understand that human
will cannot be suppressed by military might and oppression,” the
Mirwaiz added.
Mirwaiz Umar Farooq also welcomed the adoption of Pakistan’s
resolution by United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) Committee on
right to self-determination.
The Mirwaiz, who is under continuous house arrest, commended
the government of Pakistan for its persistent diplomatic efforts
in introducing the resolution which was co-sponsored by 72
countries.
Expressing concern over the silence exhibited by the
international community on Kashmir, he said, “Resolving Kashmir issue is
the legal, constitutional and moral responsibility of the United
Nations and that peace and progress would elude South Asia until
the final settlement of Kashmir dispute.”
