ISLAMABAD, Oct 27 (APP): World Day for Audiovisual Heritage was observed across the globe including Pakistan on Thursday to acknowledge the importance of audiovisual material for maintaining cultural and national identity. The day was marked through highlighting this year’s theme”It’s Your Story-Don’t Lose It”. The day was observed to highlight the importance of Audiovisual documents, such as films, radio and television programmes which are our common heritage and contain the primary records of the 20th and 21st centuries and help to maintain the cultural identity of a people. To protect such records, it was decided by United Nations General Conference in 2005 to observe October 27 as World Day for Audiovisual Heritage. The day is marked to raise awareness to take urgent measuresand acknowledge the importance of audiovisual documents as an integral part of national identity.
