Tokyo stocks down on yen surge

TOKYO, (MILLAT+APP/AFP) – Tokyo shares fell Friday
as a stronger yen hit the outlook for Japanese exporters’ profits.
The benchmark Nikkei 225 index closed down 0.32 percent, or53.60 points, at 16,754.02, while the Topix index of all first-section shares fell 0.23 percent, or 3.11 points, to 1,349.56.
