ISLAMABAD Dec 11 (APP): Pakistan International Airlines
(PIA) Sunday restarted its flight operation to Spain after a pause of about two years.
According to PIA, a flight of Boeing-777 aircraft left Benazir
Bhutto airport for Barcelona – the Spanish city via Paris, in the
morning.
Due to the tragic December 7 incident, all festivities planned
earlier for the launch of this flight were cancelled.
In a somber mood, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) PIA, Bernd Hildenbrand saw off the passengers.
Expressing views on the occasion Hildenbrand said that with
the resumption of flights to Barcelona, after a gap of nearly two
years, passengers would have a convenient link between Pakistan and
Spain.
PIA will operate two weekly flights to Barcelona, one each
from Islamabad and Lahore, operating on Sundays and Tuesdays,
respectively.
