PIBC welcomes PM's statement on ties with India LAHORE, July 1 (APP): Pak-India Business Council (PIBC) has welcomed a statement of new Prime Minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf for improving relations with India. PIBC Chairman Noor Muhammad Kasuri in a press statement on Sunday said that close relations between both countries would have a far-reaching impact on economies of both countries and people would benefit from it. The PPP-led coalition government since its inception has made substantial progress on improvement in trade and political ties between both countries for which PIBC is thankful to the government, he added. He said that India could play an important role in resolving the energy crisis in Pakistan. The Indian private sector has indicated at providing 500mw power to Pakistan, Kasuri said, adding the India public sector can also provide as much power to Pakistan. He praised the support of India for Pakistan in getting market access to the European Union. He said that positive contribution of Ministers Makhdoom Amin Fahim and Anand Sharma deserved to be admired. He urged top leaders of both countries to visit each other and improve interaction and create a congenial atmosphere to bring both neighbouring states closer to each other. The PIBC also urged the Indian foreign minister to announce the schedule of his visit to Pakistan which he had postponed due to domestic engagements. Kasuri said that PIBC was organizing an international trade conference and Rajasthan Expo in October and several trade and commerce bodies from both countries would participate in it. The event will provide an incredible opportunity of interaction to business communities across the border, he added.
