SC directs Rehman Malik to appear in person on next date
ISLAMABAD, Sep 5 (APP): The Supreme Court on Wednesday
directed Interior Minister Rehman Malik to appear in person on next
date of hearing in connection with a contempt of court issue.
A two-Judge bench headed by Justice Nasirul Mulk resumed
hearing of the issue.
Azhar Siddique, counsel for the interior minister, apprised
the bench that former judge of the Supreme Court, justice retired
Javed Iqbal had granted exemption to his client.
Justice Nasirul Mulk told him that the respondent was summoned
through an order of May 18 in Pakistan Steel Mills and on June 20,
he had appeared in person and sought time for submission of reply.
The counsel pleaded that they required time for submission of
reply. The bench adjourned further hearing for a date in office.
