All main rivers flowing normal except Kabul
ISLAMABAD, Aug 24 (APP): Federal Flood Commission on Friday announced that all main rivers Indus, Jhelum, Chenab, Ravi and Sutlej are flowing normal except River Kabul which is flowing in low flood at Warsak and medium flood at Nowshera. River Swat is also flowing in low flood at Charsadda Road Bridge. The daily flood situation report indicated that Tarbela and Mangla Dams are at elevations of 1507.87 feet and 1176.20 feet respectively which are 42.13 feet and 65.8 feet below their respective Maximum Conservation Levels of 1550 feet and 1242 feet. Friday's combined live storage position of Tarbela, Chashma and Mangla reservoirs is 7.618 MAF as compared to last year's 10.99 MAF. According to Flood Forecasting Division (FFD), Lahore, Thursday's Monsoon Low over Haryana (India) has become insignificant. Seasonal Low lies over Northwestern Balochistan. Westerly Wave continues to prevail over North Eastern Afghanistan. The weather system is being closely monitored by Pakistan Meteorological Department. As predicted by Flood Forecasting Division (FFD), isolated thunderstorm/rain is expected over Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab (Rawalpindi, Sargodha, Gujranwala, Lahore and Bahawalpur Divisions), Gilgit-Baltistan, North Eastern Balochistan and Kashmir including upper catchments of Rivers Indus, Jhelum, Chenab, Ravi and Sutlej during next 24 hours. Significant rainfall events as reported by FFD during the past 24 hours included: Lower Dir 62 mm, Khuzdar 50 mm, Islamabad (Airport 26 mm & Zero point 18 mm) Shorkot 10 mm, Palandri 09 mm, Parachinar and Malam Jabba 07 mm each, Bahawalpur (Airport) 07 mm, Murree 06 mm and Sehrkakota and Barkhan 05 mm each. All concerned are being kept informed by Flood Warning Centre, Lahore on round the clock basis.
