CS Balochistan takes serious notice of negligence in Dera Bugti
QUETTA, Aug 30 (APP): Chief Secretary Balochistan Babar Yaqoob Fateh Mohammad said government is fully cognizant about the situation in the Dera Bugti and assured to bring the deprived district of the country into the mainstream. "It is wrong impression that Dera Bugti is a no go area," he said this during meeting with the MNA Mir Hamdan Khan Bugti-led delegation of Buti tribes and district officials at Dera Bugti. He paid one-day visit to the Sui and Dera Bugti along with strong delegation of senior bureaucrats to review the security situation and pace of work on uplift schemes in the district. Additional Chief Secretary Planning and Development Meeran Jan Kakar, Home Secretary Naseebullah Bazai, Inspector General Police Umer Khitab, Secretary Finance Dostain Jamaldini, Secretary Education Munir Ahmed Badini, Secretary Health Asmatullah Kakar and Secretary Public Health Engineering Abdullah Khan were in the government delegation. Chief Secretary after holding detailed meetings with the tribal elders and district officials on the prevailing situation and uplift schemes observed that officials deputed in the Dera Bugti district were not performing their duties, which has hampered the development process in the area. "Dwellers of the Dera Bugti have been suffering, just because of the sheer negligence on the part of government officials and other employees in various departments in the district," he deplored adding it is high time to realize our responsibilities to change the destiny of the people of the Balochistan. Chief Secretary expressing his displeasure over the high mother and infant mortality rate in Dera Bugti ordered health secretary to make it mandatory for doctors passed out on the Dera Bugti seats to serve at least one year in the own district. Responding to the proposal from the tribal elders about handing over hospitals to the FC, he said "if FC can run hospital why it was impossible for the health department." Schools are deserted, hospitals are closed, we all are responsible if situation goes the same way. "Ground realities after visiting the area have coerced us to acknowledge that civil departments have failed to deliver the masses in Dera Bugti, however, he vowed to resume smooth and effective functioning of the departments including education and health to remove the grievances of the people. Babar reiterating government pledge said, that he along with secretaries of all important department were in town to listen to the problem of the area people and subsequently devise a remedial plan. Before visiting the Dera Bugti, he said I met with the Chief Minister of Balochistan Nawab Mohammad Aslam Raisani and with his support I assure that no force can deprive people of Dera Bugti of their genuine rights. He stressed that international companies have no right to deprive the local people and would be asked to ensure provision of jobs to locals in their respective companies. He, on the occasion issued directives to the Planning and Health Engineering department to complete the water schemes carried out in the Dera Bugti area on the its stipulated time. "Finance department should release funds for all uplift schemes for Dera Buti," he maintained. CS Balochistan also directed the health and education secretaries to chalk out concerted strategy for Dera Bugti people. Responding to a reservation on the conduct of the elections in Balochistan, he said that things were being worked out to provide fearless environment to the people for next elections. "Next general elections would be the turning point for the people of Balochistan," he vowed. Deputy Commissioner Dera Bugti Shoaib Khan gave detailed briefing to the visiting bureaucrats. Earlier, Chief Secretary Balochistan-led delegation visited computer training center and 50-bed hospital in Sui where he was briefed by the PPL officials. He also visited the Sui grid station.
