Multan Airport to be fully operational by March 2013

 MULTAN, Aug 30 (APP): The upgradition of Multan Airport
is being carried out at a brisk pace which will be completed
by March-2013.
 According to the Civil Aviation Athourity sources, the
airport is being upgraded in two phases. The construction of
the runway has been completed in the first phase while the
terminal and other buildings are being constructed in the
second phase. The roof of the terminal will be completed
within next few days while the the process of installing
machinery and other equipment will begin very soon.
 The upgradition of the Multan Airport is one of the mega
projects in South Punjab, which will cost Rs 8 billion.
 Earlier, the area of the airport terminal building
which was 2975 square meter areas, will increase to 30,700
square metere.
 The upgraded airport will facilitate one million people
per annum as compared to 100,000 presently.
 The project will help local the business
community also with the increase in cargo facility from 1380
to 5000 ton annully.
 Car parking facility will also be improved and in new
parking areas 700 cars could be accomodated.
