CM presides meeting of P&D
    
     KARACHI, Aug 30 (APP): Present elected government has initiated
and completed many development schemes during last four years and it
is our endeavour to implement the programmes highlighted in the
manifesto of Party approved by our great leader Shaheed Benazir Bhutto
for welfare of people of Pakistan.
     This he stated while presiding over a high level meeting of
Planning and Development Department, Sindh, in connection with prioritization of ADP schemes for release of funds, held at Chief
Minister House on Thursday.
     He said that the pace of development works be accelerated and
maximum on-going schemes be completed upto the end of December 2012 so
as to inaugurate the same for the benefit of general public.
     Syed Qaim Ali Shah directed that all projects, packages, special
initiatives and development schemes in all sectors of the provincial
government be given priority.
     Chief Minister Sindh further directed to maintain quality of work
for those schemes and all processes of feasibility, estimates be
completed on merit and technical grounds.
     He added that there are complaints that the development works are
not being done with quality and the sub-standard material is being
used.
     Chief Minister Sindh directed officers of P&D Department to
complete public oriented schemes with priority to District
headquarters hospitals, network of roads, health and education sector
project, special package schemes of Lyari and Keamari including Malir
areas.
     Syed Qaim Ali Shah said that an allocation of Rs: two billion has
been approved, out of which Rs. 800 million are being spent on Lyari
for roads, drainage, parks etc. Rs: 400 million for Lyari economic
relief, Rs: 400 million for Lyari Medical College, Rs: 100 million for
Lyari University, Rs: 60 million for Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto Law
College, Rs: 50 million for Begum Nusrat Bhutto welfare schemes.     
     He added that under Kemari, Malir development package, an amount
of Rs:1600 million have been allocated for various schemes.
     Chief Minister said that an amount of Rs: 5 billion
has been provided during four-years to Sui Southern Gas Co. for supply
of Gas to villages in Sindh.
     He said that out of 1,107 villages so far
approved, the gas facility has been provided to 401 villages while the
work of provision of gas for remaining villages will be completed
soon.
     With regard to programme of electrification of villages in the
province, an amount of Rs: 4.00 billion has been given to HESCO etc.
while out of 399 Village electrification schemes of District Khairpur,
268 villages have been electrified, while the remaining 131 villages
will be electrified within few months.
     Syed Qaim Ali Shah directed the officers of P&D Department to
specify the plan period of development schemes upto January 2013 to
February 2013.
     Earlier, Additional Chief Secretary (P&D), Israr Malik and
Special Secretary Dr. Noorul Haq informed that under ADP 2012-13,
there are in all 1,288 ongoing schemes in the province and budgetary
allocation is Rs:112.600 billion. As far as, there are 123- new
schemes with budgetary allocation of Rs: 48.400 Billion, while there
are over all 2611 schemes and total allocation is Rs: 161.000 billion.
It was decided that 25% percent of total allocation i.e. Rs: 25.94
billion for 1288-on-going schemes across the board will be released
upto Saturday September 1, 2012.
     Chief Minister Sindh directed to form an expertise committee for
monitoring the schemes.
     Chief Minister Sindh clearly directed to complete the on-going
schemes upto 31st December 2012. The meeting was also attended by
Principal Secretary to C.M. Muhammad Siddique Memon, officers of
Planning & Development Department, Project directors of Lyari Package
and Keamari & Malir etc projects.
