Rain/thundershower likely at Punjab, KPK, Kashmir,GB

      ISLAMABAD, Sep 11 (APP): Pakistan Meteorological Department on
Tuesday forecast scattered rain/thundershower for various parts of
Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan during the
next 24 hours.
      According to an official of PMD, the intensity of the current
rain spell will be decreased from today (Tuesday) in Sindh, Southern
Punjab and Eastern Balochistan.
      The country has received unprecedented widespread rain in
different parts during the last week and the severity of this rain
spell will be lowered till the end of monsoon season in mid of this
month.
      The official said Monsoon period normally prevails till mid of
September and now it has entered into its last phase which remained
the most active phase unusually.
      The current spell produced unprecedented rains in Southern
Punjab, Sindh and eastern parts of balochistan in last 5 days.
      The chief amounts of recorded rainfall in last 5 days was
Jaccobabad 481 mm, Khanpur 291 mm, Rahim Yar Khan 236 mm, Larkana
215 mm, Sukkar 206 mm, Shorkot 152 mm, Chhor 137 mm, Multan 136 mm,
Toba Tek Singh 130 mm, Mithi 121 mm, Dera Ghazi Khan 120 mm, Badin
108 mm, Sahiwal 107 mm, Okara 103 mm, Hyderabad 90 mm and Dadu 90
mm.
      The National Weather Forecasting Center (NWFC) Islamabad
and all Regional Centers are closely monitoring the active monsoon
rains in coming days and will inform the concerned authorities about
the situation before time.
