NHL: Sharks say Thornton knee surgery ‘successful’

LOS ANGELES, (MILLAT ONLINE/APP/AFP) – The NHL’s San Jose
Sharks said Tuesday that captain Joe Thornton underwent successful
surgery to repair two damaged ligaments in his left knee.
Canada’s Thornton had the procedure on Monday, and the Sharks
said he is expected to make a complete recovery and be ready for the
start of his 21st NHL campaign.
Thornton’s next season might not be with San Jose, however.
He is an unrestricted free agent this off-season, and the operation
requires a recovery period of about six months.
The Sharks revealed Thornton’s injuries on Monday after
reports surfaced that he played four post-season games against
the Edmonton Oilers with a torn anterior cruciate ligament and
torn medial collateral ligament.
